Carbonyl(tetraisopropylcyclopentadienyl) copper has been synthesized and is
olated and can be stored at room temperature for several days. [(C5HR4)Cu(C
O)] (R = CHMe2) has been characterized by H-1 and C-13 NMR, C,H analysis, m
ass spectrometry, and IR spectroscopy. Its reaction with white phosphorus y
ields a mixture of [(C5HR4)Cu(eta (2)-P-4)] with edge-opened P-4 coordinate
d to a Cu-III atom and [(C5HR4)Cu(mu,eta (2:1)-P-4)Cu(C5HR4)] with an addit
ional Cu(C5HR4) fragment coordinated to one atom of the P-4 ligand (R = CHM
e2).
