A piperazine N, N' - bis naphthyl thiourea derivative was designed and synt
hesized. The interactions of this compound with different dicarboxylate ani
on were characterized by UV - vis and H-1 NMR spectroscopy. Results indicat
ed that the complex formation through the hydrogen bond interactions betwee
n anion and the title compound induced variation of absorption spectrum. Th
e stability constants were determined in this work. It was found that the s
electivity of dicarboxylate is dependent strongly on the chain length of an
ion. The complex model is also proposed according to the results obtained.
