Hy. Ma et Nf. Hu, Electrochemistry and electrocatalysis with myoglobin in 2C(12)N(+)PSS(-) multibilayer composite films, ANAL LETTER, 34(3), 2001, pp. 339-361
Stable thin films made from polyionic complex didodecyldimethylammonium pol
ystyrenesulfonate (2C(12)N(+)PSS(-)) with incorporated myoglobin (Mb) on py
rolytic graphite (PG) electrodes were characterized by voltammetry and othe
r techniques. The Mb-2C(12)N(+)PSS(-) films showed a pair of near reversibl
e CV peaks for MbFe(III)/Fe(II) couple at about -0.19 V vs. SCE in pH 5.5 b
uffers. The electron transfer between Mb and PG electrodes was greatly enha
nced in 2C(12)N(+)PSS(-) films. MbFe(I) was also produced in these films at
about -1.08 V, and could be used to catalytically reduce some organohalide
pollutants. The potential applications of the film electrode as a sensor f
or detecting the organohalides are discussed.
