We show that a Fabry-Perot-like tunneling cantilever consisting of two para
llel thin metallic cantilevers joined at their free ends is able to sense t
he power of an incoming terahertz (THz) field. An array of such microstruct
ures, with linearly varying distances between the two parallel cantilevers,
can measure simultaneously the power and frequency of the THz field in the
bandwidth 1.2-58 THz. (C) 2001 American Institute of Physics.
