Abstract
Stanovich & West claim that the positive correlation between reasoning task s negates the view that errors in reasoning are due to failures in informat ion processing. This is not correct. They conjecture that errors in reasoni ng are associated with conflicts between intentional and associative reason ing. This interesting proposition suggests studies relating situational cha racteristics to the quality of human reasoning.
