Abstract
We report on three cases, two with myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) and one w ith acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). displaying trisomy 16 as the sole c ytogenetic anomaly. In none of these casts was a concomitant inv(lb)(p13q22 ) detected by fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) or revere transcrip tion polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). Summarizing the: literature, only six other cases cytogenctically characterized by an isolated trisomy 16 hav e been reported in hemato logical malignancies. These patients had tither M DS. acute myeloblastic leukemia (AML). my elofibrosis. or ALL. All but one: ol these eases were aged less than 50. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science Inc. All rights reserved.
