Abstract
A series of novel D-glucose derived bis-imidazoles and their analogs, which possess potential in bioorganic and supramolecular chemistry, were designe d and synthesized from methyl alpha -D-glucoside through protection, bis-br omination, N-alkylation and deprotection. All new compounds were characteri zed by HRMS, H-1, C-13 and DEFT NMR spectroscopy as well as elemental analy sis. The H-1-H-1 and H-1-C-13 2D NMR spectra for some compounds were also r ecorded. Some regular features of C-13 and H-1 NMR spectra were summarized. The anticancer activity of some compounds was evaluated. (C) 2001 Publishe d by Elsevier Science Ltd.
