Abstract
Two novel organic-inorganic hybrid compounds, [PbI2(4,4 ' -bipy)](n) (1) an d [PbBr2(4,4 ' -bipy)](n) (2), are synthesized by self-assembly. X-ray crys tallography analysis shows that the [PbI2], chains in 1 are linked by 4,4 ' -bipyridine to form a layer, via Pb-N bonding along the direction of the ' b' axis.
