Abstract
Phase synchronized entrainment of coupled oscillators with distributed natu ral frequencies is studied by exploring the dynamical manifestation. The ro ute from partial to complete phase synchronization is identified as a casca de of transitions from high- to low-dimensional tori (quasiperiodicities) i nterrupted by intermittent chaos. Torus ON-OFF intermittency is found at th e onset of desynchronization. Desynchronization-induced chaos originates fr om the mixing of intermittent ON-OFF timescales.
