Ra. Soslow et al., Acidic fibroblast growth factor is expressed sequentially in the progression from Barrett's esophagus to esophageal adenocarcinoma, DIS ESOPHAG, 14(1), 2001, pp. 23-27
Acidic fibroblast growth factor 1 (FGF-1) is sequentially accumulated in Ba
rrett's esophagus and its expression in glandular dysplasias is independent
of esophageal adenocarcinoma. This suggests that FGF-1 immunohistochemistr
y could be used as an adjunct to the routine histopathologic diagnosis of d
ysplasia in Barrett's esophagus. The data also underscore the important rol
e of fibroblast growth factors in tumorigenesis.
