Abstract
The expressionist German painter came very often to the wide repertoire of themes that offer the Greek mythology, symbolizing in them some aspects, gl oomy generally, of the modern world. Themes like the Judgement of Paris, th e Kidnapping of Europe, Leda and the swan, personages like Perseus, Prometh eus, the Argonauts..., some episodes of Homer's Odyssey attracted the atten tion of painters like Kirchner, Mueller, Dix, Rohlfs, Beckman, or Gotsch, s howing that these are eternal myths, valid for all the countries, cultures and centuries.
