Nf. Jones et Bm. Maser, Treatment of arthritis of the trapeziometacarpal joint with trapeziectomy and hematoma arthroplasty, HAND CLIN, 17(2), 2001, pp. 237
Surgical treatment of degenerative arthritis affecting the carpometacarpal
joint of the thumb can be simplified by trapeziectomy alone and temporary p
inning of the thumb metacarpal to the index finger metacarpal, without the
need for ligament reconstruction or tendon interposition. This hematoma art
hroplasty is extremely effective in relieving pain and allowing rapid retur
n of thumb mobility, and allowing concomitant of any associated metacarpal
adduction contracture or metacarpophalangeal joint hyperextension deformity
