Abstract
Densities (rho) and ultrasonic velocities (U) have been measured at 303.15, 308.15, and 313.15 K for binary mixtures of benzonitrile (BN) with butan-l -ol, pentan-l-ol, 2-methylpropan-2-ol and toluene. From these, isentropic c ompressibilities (K-S), intermolecular free lengths (L-r), deviations in is entropic compressibilities (DeltaK(S)), and excess intermolecular free leng ths (LIT) have been computed and interpreted in terms of intermolecular int eractions. Ultrasonic velocities evaluated using Nomoto, Van Dael equations , Jacobson's free length and Schaff's collision theories have been compared with experimental values.
