Abstract
Fourteen species of common pulses were screened for flavonoids and phenolic acids. Flavonoids were present in 11 pulses. Flavones and glycoflavones we re present in three and flavonols in the rest. Vicia faba is rich in anthoc yanins. Phenolic acids are omnipresent. The role of these phenolic compound s in human system is discussed.
