Mycobacterium kansasii most commonly causes a slowly progressive pulmonary
disease. Skin and disseminated infections are seen less frequently and only
in immunocompromised hosts. To our knowledge, no case of Mycobacterium kan
sasii infection or skin infection associated with additional organ involvem
ent in an immunocompetent patient has been reported. (C) 2001 The British I
