Two cyanide-bridged bimetallic assemblies, [Mn(en)](3) [Cr(CN)(6)](2). 4H(2
)O (1) (en = ethylenediamine) and [Mn(glya)](3)[Cr(CN)(6)](2).2.5H(2)O (2)
(glya = glycine amide), have been obtained, X-ray crystallographic studies
indicate that they have a three-dimensional network structure based on a de
fective cubane unit. Magnetic studies demonstrate that both are ferrimanget
with T-c = 69 K for 1 and 71 K for 2, Remnant magnetizations for 1 and 2 a
re 1.2 x 10(4) and 1.1 x 10(4) cm(3) G mol(-1), respectively, and coercive
fields are 28 and 19 G, respectively, The assemblies 1 and 2 are relevant t
o a Prussian blue analogue, Mn-3[Cr(CN)(6)](2). 12H(2)O, which is also a fe
rrimagnet with T-c = 63 K, a remnant magnetization of 3.1 x 10(3) cm(3) G m
ol(-1) and a coercive field of 8 G, (C) 2001 Academic Press.
