Abstract
A spin dephasing mechanism due to the inhomogeneous broadening in the D'yak onov-Perel' (DP) effect, which was totally overlooked in the literature, is calculated by solving the kinetic Bloch equations. The dephasing time calc ulated from this many-body study is markedly smaller than that calculated f rom the old formulism of the DP effect. The difference is attributed to the additional spin dephasing mechanism.
