Abstract
The applied voltage to radiated far field, on-axis sound pressure rela tionship of V-groove capacitive air ultrasonic transducers was predict ed using a drumhead model for the V-groove resonator. The electrostati c applied voltage to force relationship was obtained analytically base d on a known solution for the electrostatic problem of the V-groove me mbrane system. The result was further used in the numerical calculatio n of the transfer function from harmonic applied voltage to radiated, on axis sound pressure. Fair agreement was found between the measured and predicted sound pressures versus frequency and Q-values for repres entative transducer design operating between 40 to 90 kHz.
