Abstract
We study T-duality for open strings in arbitrary background fields inc luding the abelian electromagnetic one. We focus in the mapping of the boundary conditions in the disk and the crosscap topologies and we di scuss in detail the consistency of the gauging procedure for the boson ic and the N = 1 supersymmetric theories. A brief account is made on t he dilaton transformation and global issues in higher genus.
