Abstract
Thirty-two-fold segmented coaxial high-purity large-volume germanium detect ors for use in intermediate-energy radioactive-ion-beam experiments have be en developed and tested. This high degree of segmentation will allow a prec ise localization of the point of photon interaction in the detector, thus a llowing accurate doppler reconstruction of the energy of a gamma -ray emitt ed in flight. In this article we report on the design of these detectors an d their operational characteristics. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rig hts reserved.
