Abstract
After a brief description of the rationale of the material and geometry sel ection for each carbon armoured plasma facing components, this paper descri bes the European development of the two basic geometries, namely the monobl ock and the hat tile. An overview of the non-destructive inspection techniq ues specifically developed for these components is also presented.
