Fusion cross-sections for the Li-7 + C-12 reaction have been measured at en
ergies above the Coulomb barrier by the direct detection of evaporation res
idues. The heavy evaporation residues with energies below 3 MeV could not b
e separated out from the alpha -particles in the spectrum and hence their c
ontribution was estimated using statistical model calculations. The present
work indicates that suppression of fusion cross-sections due to the breaku
p of Li-7 may not be significant for Li-7 + C-12 reaction at energies aroun
d the barrier.
