Abstract
The X-ray powder pattern of crystalline (NH4)(6)[Fe(III) W11O39FH4]. 7H(2)O shows that the anion has a structure similar to the distorted Keggin struc ture. Supporting evidence from elemental analyses, infrared spectroscopy, u ltraviolet-visible spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry, and fast atom bombardm ent mass spectroscopy are presented. The Fe(III) ion is believed to occupy the octahedral site vacated by the missing W(VI) ion of the Keggin structur e.
