Abstract
Within the scope of industrial and organizational psychology there are seve ral different concepts, stating effects of working conditions on health. Ba sic statements of the concepts Anforderturg/Belastung (requirement/stress), Demand/Control, Stress am Arbeitsplatz (stress at workplace) and Vollstand ige Tatigkeit (complete activity) are compared. For this purpose (1) the ps ychological characteristics of working conditions and (2) the indicators fo r the effects of working conditions - in each concept differentiated and op erationalized in specific ways - are condensed on two dimensions respective ly. Comparing the concepts on the basis of these dimensions only poor conco rdance is found. The main distinctions between the concepts are formulated with seven questions. It is suggested to discuss within between the concept s about these questions and other differences.
