Abstract
Archiving of electronic publications and providing long-term access to this information, in other words offering digital continuity, is one of the maj or challenges facing national libraries and national archives. From 1998-20 00 a group of these institutions has joined forces with a number of publish ers and ICT suppliers to search for solutions. This project named NEDLIB (N etworked European Deposit Library) was co-funded by the European Commission . It had the aims to study and test the functional and technical aspects of a deposit for electronic publications. Amongst the results published by NE DLIB are: standards and a functional model for a deposit system for electro nic publications, information on techniques and metadata for long-term pres ervation, an inventory of electronic publishing standards and also a genera l guidelines for setting up a deposit system for electronic publications.
