Synthesis and QSAR studies of the title compounds have resulted in the iden
tification of structural and physicochemical parameters (MR, sigma (o), sig
ma (m), sigma (p)) contributing to antitubercular activity. Among these, ca
rbamoyl phenyl ring substituted at 3 and 4 position with NO2 group or 2 pos
ition with Cl or OCH3 group shows > 90% inhibition against H37R nu comparab
le to other substituted phenyls. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights
