S. Michaud et al., Molecular strain typing of Campylobacter jejuni by pulsed-field gel electrophoresis in a single day, CAN J MICRO, 47(7), 2001, pp. 667-669
Rapid molecular strain typing is critical for effective outbreak investigat
ion and implementation of infection control measures. Pulsed-field gel elec
trophoresis is a highly discriminatory technique for Campylobacter jejuni,
but generally requires 3-5 days. We describe a simplified protocol for puls
ed-field gel electrophoresis that provides high quality typing of C. jejuni
isolates in a single day.
