Mkk. Nakaema et al., THE ANALYSIS OF THE ELECTRON-TRANSFER RATE FROM STEADY-STATE FLUORESCENCE SPECTROSCOPY, Archives of biochemistry and biophysics, 344(1), 1997, pp. 61-66
The feasibility of obtaining the electron transfer rate from steady-st
ate fluorescence spectroscopy was investigated. Polymeric films with a
fixed concentration of an electron donor molecule were studied as a f
unction of an electron acceptor concentration. The transfer studied wa
s from tetraphenylporphyrin to duroquinone in a polystyrene matrix. Th
e data were analyzed according to Perrin model and the critical radius
for electron transfer obtained was 7.1 Angstrom. There was an attempt
to obtain the electron transfer rate from the nearest-neighbor and In
okuti-Hirayama models, but the parameters that define the rate could n
ot be unequivocally determined. (C) 1997 Academic Press.
