Abstract
The necessary and sufficient conditions to which the model kinetic equation s and the caloric equation of state should be subject for consistency with the second principle of thermodynamics are given. A simple model whose accu racy compares with that of the models with detailed kinetics and a highly a ccurate description of the constants of equilibrium of the reactions and th e internal energies of the components of a mixture is proposed.
