Abstract
Local modes of the C, N, O and H interstitial atoms were measured in m any transition metal solid solutions by inelastic neutron scattering. The metal-interstitial force constants were estimated from the experim ental data and are graphically presented as functions of metal-interst itial distances. A correlation of these functions with the data, predi cted by the embedded atom theory, is revealed and discussed. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science S.A.
