Abstract
In a cloud of smoke above an electric furnace of a steelwork an aerosol sli de preparation was produced by a thermal precipitator which has been analys ed by a transmission electron microscope. The quality of the picture is all owing to demonstrate the grainsize distribution in relation to the complete number and to determine from that the numerical particle concentration. Ap proximating the shape of the particles by a ball the grainsize distribution in relation to the complete surface and total mass of the particles as wel l as the surface concentration and the gravimetric concentration can be cal culated. The pictures are also permitting to look at the structure of the p article aggregates. The authors suggest to use the thermal precipitator met hode for the quantitative analysis of ultrafine, solid aerosols.
