The total sulfur contents of thirty one geochemical reference materials wer
e determined using an inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectromet
er fitted with a semiconductor photodiode detector. Most samples were decom
posed using an HF-aquo regia, digestion. However, a few were incompletely d
ecomposed by simple acid digestion, and these were decomposed by a fusion m
ethod. The agreement between the analytical results from this work and publ
ished data is generally good.
