We describe a case of gastric sarcoidosis which developed during a 10-year
period of observation of generalized sarcoidosis. The patient was asymptoma
tic, but gastroduodenoscopy revealed a polypoid lesion in the antral region
. The specimen obtained by polypectomy showed noncaseating granuloma, sugge
sting sarcoidosis. Chest radiograph and computed tomographic examination re
vealed no involvement of the lung or mediastinal lymph nodes, although thes
e findings were present at the initial diagnosis. The present case indicate
s that gastric involvement should be considered in patients with sarcoidosi
s, even when no hilar lymphadenopathy is present. Furthermore, the macrosco
pic appearance of a single polyp in gastric sarcoidosis is extremely rare i
n gastric sarcoidosis in the literature.
