Abstract
The three-dimensional polymeric compounds [Fe(pz)M(CN)(4)]. nH(2)O (PZ = py razine, M Ni(II), Pd(II), and Pt(Il)) have been synthesized and characteriz ed. They undergo strong cooperative spin transitions, large hysteresis loop s, and dramatic color changes upon spin conversion. The two-dimensional hom ologues [Fe(PY)(2)M(CN)(4)] (py = pyridine; M = Ni(II), Pd(II), and Pt(II)) also have been synthesized and characterized. In the latter case cooperati vity is smaller than in the tri-dimensional derivatives, and consequently n arrower hysteresis loops were observed.
