Abstract
Rocks of the Talysh zone are experimentally studied under high p-T conditio ns. Based oil a combined interpretation of geological-geophysical field and laboratory data, compositional model sections of the crust and upper mantl e are constructed for the Talysh zone of the Lower Kura basin. According to the models proposed, the upper and middle crusts of the Lower Kura basin a re likely to be composed of the trachyandesite-basalt complex of the Talysh zone, whereas the lower crust and upper mantle are represented by subalkal ine gabbroids and ultrabasic rocks. The chemical composition of the study r ocks is shown to affect the elastic wave velocities and density under high P-T conditions.
