Abstract
Anticoagulation is mandatory in all mechanical valve replacements and, when well-managed, permits both embolism and valve thrombosis to be kept at low levels. Here, we report the case of a male patient who has survived 30 yea rs without anticoagulation following aortic valve replacement with the Bjor k-Shiley prosthesis.
