G. Ferran et Ma. De Almeida, Behavior of sheet metal submitted to cyclic bending and stationary drawingdeformation, J MATER PR, 115(1), 2001, pp. 114-117
A sheet metal deformation process based upon bending combined with drawing
has been developed with FEM numerical simulation assisted with simple exper
imental device. Careful experimental measurements combined with 3D numerica
l simulation identified the more relevant parameters and pointed out to sev
eral applications, among them controlled work hardening and plastic anisotr
opy measurement. Combining a nearly cyclic bending deformation path with a
steady-state drawing promotes very high levels of effective strain and stre
ss, even without apparent macrostrains.
The numerical simulation of bend/drawing forecasts that deformation ratio e
psilon (2)/epsilon (3) on the strip is related to the Lankford anisotropy p
lastic coefficient measured by the uniaxial tensile test. Experimental meas
urements confirm this trend, pointing out to a new method to estimate Lankf
ord coefficients. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
