Abstract
A hydrogen-bonded supramolecular compound, [Hbet](3)[Fe(CN)(6)]. 4H(2)O, ha s been synthesized from betaine ((CH3)(3)N+CH3CO2-) (bet) and K-3[Fe(CN)(6) ] and structurally characterized. The crystal structure consists of neutral two-dimensional sheets assembled via hydrogen bonding between the protonat ed betaine (Hbet(+)) and the hexacyanoferrate(RI) ion, while the hydrogen b onding involving water molecules interlinks the sheets to form a unique thr ee-dimensional supramolecular architecture.
