Abstract
A novel dimeric abietane diterpene, hongencaotone (1), has been isolated fr
om the roots of Salvia prionitis, and its structure was determined by spect
ral data interpretation and X-ray analysis. Hongencaotone (1) is the first
ether-linked heterodimeric diterpene to have been isolated from the genus S
alvia.
