Nm. Dimitrijevic et al., Pulse radiolysis studies of solvated electrons in supercritical ethane with methanol as cosolvent, J PHYS CH A, 105(30), 2001, pp. 7236-7240
Pulse radiolysis has been used to study the solvated electron in supercriti
cal ethane with methanol as a cosolvent. These measurements give informatio
n about the liquid structure of the cosolvent in these systems. The results
show that at temperatures below 110 degreesC, there are high local concent
rations of alcohol molecules (clusters), which are capable of solvating an
electron. The agglomeration number of methanol clusters depends on mole fra
ction of alcohol at a fixed temperature. Addition of salts increases the si
ze of methanol clusters.
