Abstract
Transparent YAG (Y3Al5O12) ceramics containing 4.3 mol% Pr were fabricated by a solid-state reaction method using high purity powders. This ceramics h ad excellent optical properties. The 4.3 mol% Pr: YAG ceramics obtained wer e confirmed optically to have prefect isotropy and transmittance, and a gar net structure only. The characteristic absorption and fluorescence spectra of Pr3+ ions for the garnet host (YAG) were observed in this work.
