Abstract
The unusual subcutaneous location of Echinococcus multilocularis metacestod es in a three years old Bernaise mountain dog is described in a case histor y. Altogether two multiple chambered swellings of chicken egg respectively fist size were removed surgically. Due to the poor general condition of the dog and the unfavourable prognosis the dog had to be euthanased. One furth er metacestode was found in the region of the right shoulder. Contrarily to our expectations internal organs were not involved.
