Abstract
An immunoperoxidase monolayer assay (IPMA) vas developed to detect specific immunoglobulins against the canine distemper virus (CDV). An estimation of the relationship between the IPMA serum titres and titres in the commonly used seroneutralization test was carried out. A high correlation coefficien t (r = 0.94) was obtained between, both these tests. The repeatability of s erum titres using IPMA was anal sed. The average standard deviation between replicate serum titres was calculated to be 0.13 log. A correlation (r = - 0.82) was observed between the dog IPMA titres and the concentration of spe cific antibodies. The results indicate that IPMA may be applied as a routin e, relatively quick and simple method of evaluating the serum antibody leve l for CDV.
