Intramedullary schwannoma of the spinal cord: report of two cases

We report magnetic resonance findings in the intramedullary schwannoma of t he cervical spinal cord in two patients. In both cases, the solid portions of the tumours enhanced intensely after administration of Gd-DTPA and the e nhanced border was sharply delineated from the adjacent spinal cord. Schwan nomas should be considered in the differential diagnosis of intramedullary tumours when magnetic resonance images show a strongly enhancing mass with sharply delineated borders.
