Abstract
The general coherent-mode structure of a propagation-invariant field is fou nd as the solution of the differential equation for propagation of the cohe rent modes of said field. It is shown that three kinds of the propagation-i nvariant fields exist. Examples of propagation-invariant fields of the thre e kinds are discussed. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science BY. All rights reserved.
