Abstract
Effects of air diffuser arrangement as well as tank geometry on the sp iral liquid circulation rate, i.e., the liquid ascending velocity in t he bubbling zone, and on the gas-liquid oxygen transfer performance we re investigated based on a theoretical analysis of the data obtained i n commercial-scale activated sludge aeration tanks. IL is ascertained that the total floor coverage arrangement of air diffusers on the bott om of the tanks is effective in hindering the spiral liquid circulatio n and in enhancing the gas-liquid oxygen transfer.
