Abstract
This article discusses prevalence rates, risk factors, and health consequen ces of childhood obesity among African Americans, Hispanics, Native America ns, and Asian Americans, and describes interventions tailored to these grou ps. These ethnic groups are not mutually exclusive. In particular, persons of Hispanic origin may be of any race. For most of the purposes of this art icle, referrals to African, Americans and whites exclude Hispanics. The fol lowing article does not specifically include Pacific Islanders, for whom th ere is a dearth of information.
