Abstract
TlGaTe2 has a quasi-one-dimensional crystal structure consisting of Tl and
linked GaTe4 tetrahedral chains. We have studied the electronic band struct
ure of TlGaTe2 by means of photoemission spectroscopy and band-structure ca
lculation. Comparison between both results is rather favorable and energy b
ands show strong dispersion perpendicular to the chain direction. We have m
easured the temperature dependence of the spectra and attributed the observ
ed spectral shifts to a downward shift of the Fermi level with decreasing t
emperature.
