The technique of the collective psychological debriefing has proved it
s preventive and curative effect, as far as patients having gone throu
gh a <<serious event>> are concerned. It is described here in its vari
ous aspects so as to be put into practice by physicians and in particu
lar in the army by unit physicians. Recent experiments in a civil envi
ronment (bomb attack in Paris) and in a military environment (Ex-Yugos
lavia) have proved that this technique should became more systematic.
