Schizophrenia and Alzheimer disease are both diseases of the brain that inv
olve genetic susceptibility factors and for which the prevention or delay o
f symptom onset are important research goals. This paper provides some comp
arisons between current preventive efforts in schizophrenia and Alzheimer d
isease, focusing on certain ethical features of these endeavors such as pot
